Web Hosts Pricing

Things you need to know about web hosts’ pricing before sending them your credit card information.

Q: What do web hosts mean by “Per Month” pricing?

A: Well it means how much their web hosting service costs per month. BUT IT DOES NOT MEAN YOU ONLY NEED TO PAY THEM PER MONTH!

Do not be misled by this misnomer. Many people have lost hundreds of dollars in signing up with what they thought will cost them only three dollars, only to end up having a hundred bucks charged on their credit card. You cannot purchase a web hosting plan for let’s say one month or three months only. The usual minimum hosting plan is at one year. That means, if you purchased a “$3 per month hosting plan”, they will charge you at least $36 on your credit card or PayPal account, and NOT $3 ONLY!

Hidden Costs

Now I said “at least $36” because some web hosts charge you additional costs without even asking you. These are called hidden costs which will drop like a bombshell on your next billing statement. They usually charge you for so-called add-on services – most of which you don’t even need or know how to use. So be careful when clicking on checkboxes on your registration page and make sure to UNCLICK PRE-SELECTED CHECKBOXES (this is where the problem usually starts).  Finally, before checking out on your cart, verify the total price charged and the corresponding services you will get. A second look on where your money goes will save you from disappointment in the future.
